새로운 출발
나는 오늘도 새롭게 출발한다.
열기구 하나가 땅에 닿으면
다른 열기구 하나를 다시 띄우는 것처럼...
힘겹지 않은가?
아니
신난다.
또 다른 열기구에 사람들을 실고
하늘 창공위로 날아 오른다.
하늘 그 창공에서 무엇을 보게 될까
지상의 있는 모든 것들이 점점 멀어지며, 작아지기 시작한다.
반면 하늘은 점점 더 커지고 가까워진다.
커지는 하늘과 작아지는 지상의 모든 것들
가까워지는 하늘과 멀어지는 지상의 모든 것들
땅에 있을 때는 하늘이 멀고, 하늘에 있는 것들이 작아 보였는데
중력을 거슬러 하늘로 올라가니
땅이 멀어지고, 땅에 있는 것들이 작아보인다.
그러나
하늘도, 땅도,
하늘에 있는 것들도
땅에 있는 모든 것들도
사실은 모두 그대로 이지 않은가
아. 하늘이, 땅이 바뀐것이 아니구나
나의 시선의 위치가 그리고 방향이 바뀐 것이다.
바뀐 것은 내가 보고 있는 어떤 대상이 아니라
내가
어디에서 이 모든 것들을 보고 있느냐 였었구나
같은 것이 다르게 보였던 것은
바로 나의 시선 때문이였다.
나의 시선이 위로 향하고 있는지 아래로 향하고 있는지..
나의 시선에 따라 모든 것이 다르게 보이기 시작한 것이다.
나의 시선 이외에 아무것도 달라진 것이 없음에도 불구하고..
모든 것이 다르게 보인다.
새로운 출발이란
바로 나의 시선을 바꾸는 것
새로운 출발의 모험이란,
세상을 거꾸로 바라보기도 하면서
나의 시선을 이리 저리 바꾸어 보는 일이였다.
새롭게 어디론가 출발하는 것이 아니라,
장소는 그대로 이지만,
시선의 방향을 바꾸는 것.
그것이 새로운 출발이다.
시선을 바꾸니 세상에서 보지 못했던 것들이 보이기 시작한다.
작았던 것이 크게 보이고, 크게만 느껴졌던 것들이 작게 보인다.
사소하게 느껴졌던 것들이
얼마나 중요한 것들이였는지,
얼마나 귀한 것이였는지..
너무 커서 도저히 감당하기 힘들거 같았던 고통이나 어려움이
실은 얼마나 사소하고 작은 것들이였는지...
시선을 바꾸니 이제서야 보인다.
시선을 바꾸는 일
시선의 방향을 바꾸는 것
새로운 출발 - 바로 해방이다. 자유이다.
새로운 출발이 안겨주는
진정한 자유란,
내가 어쩔 수 없는 것들을 바꾸는 것이 아니라,
내가 어쩔 수 있는 나의 시선을 바꾸는 것
오늘 나는 어디로 나의 시선의 방향을 향하게 할 것인가
내면의 깊은 자유…
대상이, 사건이, 상황이 어떠하더라도
나는 내가 향하는 시선의 방향으로
깊은 자유를 얻을 수 있기를..
이 순간,
나는
이미
자유다.

A New Beginning
Today, I begin again.
When one hot air balloon returns to the ground,
I prepare another
to rise into the sky.
“Isn't it exhausting?”
No.
It is exhilarating.
Once again,
I welcome people into another balloon,
and together
we ascend into the vastness of the heavens.
What will we see
from up there?
Everything on the earth
begins to grow smaller
and farther away.
Meanwhile,
the sky becomes larger
and closer.
The sky expands,
while everything on earth seems to diminish.
The heavens draw near,
while the earth slowly fades into the distance.
When I stood on the ground,
the sky felt far away,
and the things above seemed so small.
But as I rose
against the pull of gravity,
the earth became distant,
and everything upon it
appeared small.
Yet—
Neither the sky
nor the earth
has changed.
Everything in heaven,
everything on earth,
remains exactly as it has always been.
Ah...
It was not the sky
or the earth
that changed.
It was the place
from which I was looking.
It was the direction
of my gaze.
What changed
was not the world before me,
but where
I chose to see it from.
The same world
looked completely different,
simply because
my perspective had changed.
Whether my eyes
were lifted upward
or fixed downward,
everything began to look different.
Nothing had changed—
except my point of view.
And yet,
everything appeared new.
A new beginning
is simply
a new way of seeing.
The adventure of a new beginning
is learning
to look at the world
from another perspective.
A new beginning
is not always about
going somewhere new.
Sometimes,
the place remains the same.
Only the direction
of our gaze changes.
That
is a new beginning.
When I changed my perspective,
I began to see
what had always been there.
Things that once seemed insignificant
became precious.
Things that once seemed enormous
became surprisingly small.
The burdens
I believed I could never bear
turned out
to be much lighter
than I had imagined.
Only now,
I can see.
To change one's perspective.
To change
the direction
of one's gaze.
That
is freedom.
A true new beginning
is not changing
what I cannot change,
but changing
the way I choose
to look.
Today,
where will I direct
my gaze?
Whatever the circumstance,
whatever the situation,
whatever happens,
may I find
my deepest freedom
through the direction
of my gaze.
At this very moment,
I am
already
free.
